Description
Viking Age (800-1050 AD).
Fibula in Urnaes style found at Tröllaskogur in the southern part of Iceland. Stylised in the Urnaes fashion, named after the wood carvings on the church of Urnaes, Norway. Typical of this style, the motif depicts a fantasy animal fighting a snake, and is often interpreted as Christianity in battle against Paganism - the latter of course represented by the serpent.
An ideal gift idea for Her.
